meinpublic Terms of Service: What You and meinpublic Agree To

These terms are the agreement between you and Tien Doan, who runs meinpublic, for using meinpublic.com, app.meinpublic.com and the meinpublic apps. The most important one: what you write stays yours.

Who runs meinpublic

meinpublic is run by Tien Doan, an individual in Hue City, Vietnam, not by a company. Whenever these terms say "meinpublic", they mean him. Write to hello@meinpublic.com with any question about these terms; he reads every message.

If a company is registered to take payments, this page will name it, and members are told by email before it takes over.

Your account and your handle

Reading public maps needs no account. To keep a map, watch someone or answer an ask, you need one:

  • One account per person, signed in with your email address. There is no password: each sign-in email carries a link and a six-digit code, which expire after 15 minutes and work once.
  • You must be 16 or older.
  • Keep your email address working, because it is how you sign in. You can change it in Settings, with a code sent to the new address.
  • Your handle is your address, meinpublic.com/ followed by the handle. It has 3 to 30 characters: lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens. Paths the site uses, such as about and blog, and names that pass for meinpublic are reserved.
  • You can change your handle once every 30 days. The old handle redirects to the new one for good and is never given to anyone else.

What it costs

Reading is free for anyone. Keeping a map is paid, because paying is how a person says they mean it.

PlanPriceWhat it is
FoundingFree for the first year, with no cardFor the first 300 builders. In month 11 you are asked whether to go on at $5 a month, with a month's notice. If you don't, you stay a reader, with your map kept, read-only.
Builder$5 a month or $50 a year, after a 30-day trial that needs a cardYour map, the Monday letter, asks, share cards and data export.
ReaderFreeRead maps, watch members and answer asks.

Paid plans are not on sale yet. Before anything is charged, you are told the price and the date it starts, and you can leave before then. Asks are never sold, and neither is attention: no plan buys a place in anyone's inbox.

What you write stays yours

You own what you write and post on meinpublic. You give meinpublic permission to store it and show it the way you set each node, and nothing more:

  • Public: anyone can see it, on your page at meinpublic.com and its share cards, in your map's machine-readable copy and the members' directory, and through search engines and AI assistants.
  • Members only: only signed-in members can see it.
  • Sealed: everyone sees a shape and the date it opens, nothing else. On that date it opens.

Your words also go into your own Monday letter, and to any AI assistant you connect to your map. The permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You can export everything or delete it at any time. When meinpublic says nothing is deleted, it means your history is never rewritten to look better, never that you can't remove your own data.

Post only what you have the right to share. An answer to someone's ask belongs to their question: the asker chooses who sees it.

The rules

Tien Doan started meinpublic to be "a healthy place where I can share my journey, see other people's journeys and help them with theirs," in his words. These rules keep it that way. On meinpublic, don't post or do:

  • Anything illegal in Vietnam or where you live.
  • Harassment, threats or hate.
  • Pretending to be someone else.
  • Spam, or selling or buying attention.
  • Other people's private information, without their permission.
  • Anything that tries to break, overload or get around the service and its limits.

Members can report any update, reply or answer, and block a member, who then can't reply to, answer or watch them. Tien Doan reads every report, and may hide an item or suspend an account. You are told which rule it broke.

AI assistants you connect

When AI access opens, you can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude, to your map. It acts for you, within these limits:

  • It reads your own map in full, and other people's maps only as the public web shows them.
  • Anything it posts is marked with the assistant's name.
  • It never changes a node's state. Finishing, parking and letting go always take your own tap.
  • You are responsible for what you let it post.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time, in Settings. It asks once to confirm. Your map is hidden at once, your sessions end, and within 30 days everything you wrote is erased, backups included. Three things stay, none of them your content:

  • Your handles, as bare names with nothing linking them to you, so nobody else can take them.
  • A deletion record with only an account id and a date, so a restore from a backup erases you again.
  • An address that bounced, or marked a meinpublic email as spam, on the list that stops email to it.

meinpublic may end an account that breaks these terms. Unless the harm is serious, such as threats or illegal content, you get a warning first, and time to export your data.

What meinpublic is responsible for

meinpublic is built and run by one person, and offered as it is. The database is backed up every night and errors are watched, but the service can still go down or lose something, so keep your own export of anything you can't lose.

As far as the law allows, meinpublic is not liable for indirect losses, such as lost income, and its total liability to you is what you paid meinpublic in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer where you live: under Vietnam's Law on Protection of Consumers' Rights, or, in the EU or the UK, your own country's consumer law.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam. If something goes wrong, write to hello@meinpublic.com first: most things are settled in a reply.

A dispute that can't be settled goes to the competent court of Vietnam. If you are a consumer and the law where you live lets you go to your own courts, you keep that right.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change in a way that affects you, members get an email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can export your data and delete your account before then. The date at the top of this page is when the terms last changed.

Questions

How much does meinpublic cost?

Reading is free. Keeping a map costs $5 a month or $50 a year, after a 30-day trial, and the first 300 founding members get their first year free, with no card. Paid plans are not on sale yet: you are told the price and the date before anything is charged.

Who owns what I post on meinpublic?

You do. meinpublic only has your permission to store it and show it the way you set each node: public, members only or sealed. You can export everything, or delete it, at any time in Settings.

Can meinpublic close my account?

Yes, if you break the rules in these terms, such as harassment or threats. Unless the harm is serious, you get a warning first and time to export your data, and you are told which rule was broken.

Can I change my meinpublic handle?

Yes, once every 30 days, in Settings. The old handle redirects to the new one for good and is never given to anyone else, so links you have shared keep working.
